On May 19, Yu Yongsheng, Director-General of the Department of Transport of Shandong Province, led a delegation to visit COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) and held talks with Qian Weizhong, Chairperson of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong); Zhu Tao, Chairperson of COSCO SHIPPING Ports; and Zhu Changyu, President of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong).

Qian Weizhong shared an overview of China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation’s business layout and operations in Hong Kong, and the development of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong)'s "two platforms." He noted that the company is focusing on two core tracks of digital intelligence and green, low-carbon development, with the goal of fostering new productive forces. It is proactively engaging with and supporting Shandong's goal of becoming a strong transportation province and assisting Shandong Port Group in its efforts to build a world-class cluster of marine ports. He pointed out that Shandong, as a major economic and shipping province along China's eastern coast, has outstanding geographical advantages and significant port resources. The two sides have a solid foundation for cooperation and broad prospects. He expressed hope for further leveraging their respective strengths and exploring deeper cooperation potential in areas such as digital and smart shipping services, green new energy investment, and logistics infrastructure development.

Yu Yongsheng expressed his gratitude to COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) for its longstanding support for the development of Shandong's transportation sector. He noted that since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Shandong's coastal ports have ranked among the top in the country in cargo throughput for several consecutive years, with notable achievements in rail-sea intermodal transport, inland waterway shipping, and green and smart transportation development. He expressed hope for stronger industrial alignment and resource sharing between the two sides, and for deeper pragmatic cooperation in areas such as enhancing regional supply chain complementarity, jointly deepening their presence in target markets, and advancing green and smart port partnerships. He also called for improving regular communication and coordination mechanisms to facilitate the implementation of various cooperation projects, thereby accelerating the development of Shandong into a strong transportation province and contributing greater strength to the coordinated progress of the shipping industries of Shandong and Hong Kong.

The meeting was also attended by Su Jianguang, Deputy General Manager of Shandong Port Group and Chairperson of Qingdao Port Group; Zhang Jiangnan, Chairperson of Rizhao Port Group; representatives from the General Office, General Planning Office, and Human Resources Office of the Department of Transport of Shandong Province; representatives from Shandong Port Investment Holdings, Shandong Marine Corportation, and Shandong Port Overseas Development; as well as representatives from Florens, and the Capital & Investment Operation Division and Operations Management Division of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong).
