On March 13, Qian Weizhong, Chairperson of COSCO SHIPPING Group's Hainan Regional Headquarters, Zhu Changyu, Managing Director, along with Chen Pisen, Chairperson of COSCO SHIPPING Boao, and Song Xinjian, Managing Director, visited Qionghai City to meet with Zhou Changqiang, Secretary of the Qionghai Municipal Party Committee, for discussions and exchanges.
During the meeting, Zhou Changqiang highlighted the development of Qionghai's "1+2+N" modern industrial system. He stated that Qionghai is currently seizing the opportunities presented by the Hainan Free Trade Port's customs independent operations, striving to advance the construction of the eastern centre city of Hainan province. The city is focusing on building four major centres: regional open cooperation, medical health, transportation and logistics, and cultural tourism consumption, offering significant development potential and broad cooperation prospects. He expressed hope that COSCO SHIPPING would further leverage its advantages in the industrial chain as a central enterprise, deeply integrate into Qionghai's development strategy, and increase investment in areas such as port logistics, cultural tourism integration, and green and low-carbon development. Qionghai City will continue to optimise its business environment, strengthen policy support, resource coordination, and service guarantees, providing comprehensive support for COSCO SHIPPING's development in Qionghai and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation.
Qian Weizhong introduced the group's business layout in Hainan and the functional positioning of its Hainan Regional Headquarters. He stated that COSCO SHIPPING Group has always regarded Hainan as a crucial hub in its global network and a strategic investment priority, with diversified investments in shipping, ports, the construction and service support of the Boao Forum for Asia, shipping services, supply chain development, and environmental protection. Moving forward, the Hainan Regional Headquarters will implement the requirements of the strategic cooperation agreement, take the lead in coordinating the group's resources in Hainan, proactively align with Hainan's "15th Five-Year Plan" development strategies, and focus on Qionghai's industrial development needs. Cooperation efforts will be intensified in areas such as modern logistics system development, green and low-carbon development, and maritime cultural tourism, with concrete actions to deepen central-local government collaboration and jointly promote Qionghai's high-quality development. This will inject stronger momentum into the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the service support and impact of the Boao Forum for Asia.
The meeting was also attended by relevant officials from the Qionghai Municipal Party Committee Office and the Transportation Bureau, as well as Lin Jian, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Group's Hainan Regional Headquarters, and Jia Guangchao, Assistant to the Managing Director.
