President Chu Beiping of Shanghai Maritime University and his delegation visited COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong)

On April 28, Chu Beiping, President of Shanghai Maritime University, led a delegation to COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) and held discussions with Qian Weizhong, Chairperson of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong), and Zhu Changyu, President of the company.


Qian Weizhong highlighted the development history, business layout, and the "15th Five-Year Plan" vision of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong). He noted that Shanghai Maritime University is a vital base for cultivating maritime talent in China, having supplied the industry with a large number of highly qualified professionals. He expressed hope that both sides would leverage their respective strengths, establish a regular coordination mechanism, and deepen practical cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation and exchange, joint research projects, and the development of green and intelligent shipping services, driving the transformation and upgrading of the shipping industry through univeristy-enterprise collaborative innovation.


Chu Beiping introduced the educational features, academic strengths, and recent achievements in university-enterprise collaboration of Shanghai Maritime University. He stated that the university is currently focusing on the trends of digitalisation, intelligence, and greening in the shipping industry, actively exploring the application of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in talent cultivation and technological innovation. He hopes to further strengthen cooperation with COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) to achieve complementary resources and mutual benefits, jointly contributing wisdom and strength to the development of a strong transportation and maritime nation.

The meeting was attended by relevant personnels from the President’s Office, Graduate School, International Exchange Office, and Law School of Shanghai Maritime University, as well as Liu Haitao, Director of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong), and relevant personnels from the Strategy Development Division and Human Resources Division.
