On August 4, a delegation led by Mr. Zhang Daowu, Chairman of Guangdong Provincial Port and Shipping Group, visited COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. and held exchange talks with Mr. Qian Weizhong, Chairperson of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong), and Mr. Zhu Changyu, President of the company.

Mr. Qian Weizhong introduced the recent production and operations of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) as well as the company’s “15th Five-Year Plan” outlook. He noted that the shipping industries in Guangdong and Hong Kong share common origins and close ties, with complementary resources and huge potential for industrial cooperation. In the future, COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) will actively leverage its strengths to deepen strategic cooperation with Guangdong Provincial Port and Shipping Group, make full use of Hong Kong's strategic location as a regional hub and its international resources to expand practical collaboration in areas such as green shipping innovation practices, digital and intelligent shipping service technology applications, and industrial capital investment. Together, they aim to serve the national development strategy for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and support the transformation, upgrading, and high‑quality development of the shipping industry in Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Mr. Zhang Daowu presented the latest development initiatives, key project achievements, and future strategic plans of Guangdong Provincial Port and Shipping Group. He stated that with the continuous and in-depth advancement of the Greater Bay Area development, the port and shipping industry—as a core link for regional integrated growth—is embracing new opportunities. The Group will actively align with the development needs of Hong Kong as an international shipping centre, with a focus on green and low-carbon shipping development, upgraded digital and intelligent shipping services, and industrial synergy. By fully leveraging the complementary resources of both sides, the Group aims to further deepen all-round, multi-level strategic cooperation and help build a more competitive modern port and shipping logistics system in the Greater Bay Area.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Administration Department of Guangdong Provincial Port and Shipping Group, Chu Kong Shipping Enterprises (Group) Co., Ltd., Chu Kong Transshipment and Logistics Co., Ltd., and Oriental Pearl Harbour Cruise Company, as well as Mr. Lin Jian, Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong), and relevant personnel from the Operations Management Division.
