Norsepower CEO Heikki Pöntynen and Delegation Visit COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong)
On May 9, Heikki Pöntynen, CEO of Norsepower, and his delegation visited COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) and held discussions with Qian Weizhong, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong), and Zhu Changyu, President of the company.
Qian Weizhong extended a warm welcome to Heikki Pöntynen and his team, providing an overview of COSCO SHIPPING Group’s operations and the business developments in green and low-carbon shipping by COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) in recent years. He noted that as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) continues to strengthen emission reduction policies for the shipping industry, innovation in green ship technology presents significant opportunities. As a global leader in wind-assisted propulsion systems and a pioneer in rotor sail technology, Norsepower has played a crucial role in advancing energy efficiency and emission reductions in the shipping sector by leveraging its unique advantages. Qian expressed hope that both parties would enhance communication, explore collaboration opportunities in related fields, and jointly contribute to the development of green shipping.
Heikki Pöntynen highlighted the progress in Norsepower’s rotor sail R&D, industrial applications, and market expansion. He pointed out that in recent years, COSCO SHIPPING has been committed to driving technological innovation in shipping through digitalization, intelligence, and green initiatives, actively promoting low-carbon shipping practices. Norsepower’s rotor sails offer advantages such as ease of operation, strong adaptability, and significant emission reduction effects, which can effectively enhance the energy efficiency of COSCO SHIPPING’s fleet. He expressed hope for strengthened cooperation between the two parties to jointly advance the industry’s green transformation and achieve mutual success.
