Zhejiang Four Brothers Rope Co., Ltd. Drives the Implementation of Three International Standards

Recently, the Cordage Institute held its annual technical meeting, where Dr. Rafael Chou, Chief Technology Officer of Zhejiang Four Brothers Rope Co., Ltd. a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) Co., Limited, represented the company. As the chairperson of the Braided Ropes Subcommittee, he successfully led the team in promoting the implementation of three important international standards.

During the meeting, the expert group chaired by Dr. Rafael Chou Rafael Chou focused on reviewing three major standards: CI 1305 Polyester (PET) Fiber Rope of 12-Strand Single Braid Construction, CI 1310 Nylon (Polyamide) Fiber Rope of Double Braid Construction, and CI 1311 Polyester (PET) Fiber Rope of Double Braid Construction. After in-depth discussions with experts from the United States, Japan, France, and other countries, the three international standards were unanimously approved by the board.

As the first company in China’s rope industry to participate in the formulation of international standards, Zhejiang Four Brothers Rope Co., Ltd. is committed to both independent innovation and open cooperation. The company currently holds 70 patented technologies, among which the independently developed domestically produced polyester mooring ropes for marine engineering have broken up the long-standing foreign technological monopoly. These ropes have been successfully applied to China’s first deep-sea gas field, “Deep Sea No. 1,” and the domestically developed cylindrical FPSO, “Haikui No. 1,” achieving self-controlled key technologies.
