On June 5th 2021, a volunteer team composed of 36 employees and their family members of COSCO SHIPPING International (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. participated in the Dragon Boat Festival volunteer activity organized by the Neighbourhood Advice-action Council Shamshuipo District Elderly Community Center. They visited 118 elders in the district and presented Dragon Boat Festival lucky bags containing rice dumplings, fruits and other items. They sent the love and warmth of the community to the elderly and expressed their blessings and care.

After listening to the visit guidelines from the social workers of the Neighbourhood Advice-action Council, the volunteers received lucky bags and went to Shek Kip Mei Village to visit the elderly and deliver supplies. Due to the epidemic, the volunteers did not enter the elderly's home, but talked with them at the door. The volunteers learned about the current situation of the elderly, collected urgent matters that the elderly need to solve and gave feedback to the social worker after the visit.

Many elders expressed their gratitude to the volunteers for visiting them during the festival. They were very happy to chat with the volunteers. Some elders waited at home early in the morning. When the volunteers arrived, the elders greeted them warmly and took photos with them.

Since 2011, COSCO SHIPPING International has organized volunteers to visit the elderly during festivals and winters every year. So far, the service time has reached 2861 hours, benefiting 621 elderly people. In the future, the company will continue to implement the proposition of caring for society and serving the community by organizing different forms of volunteer services, and carry forward the company’s volunteer spirit of "Rooting Hong Kong and serving Hong Kong".
