On 30th November 2017, COSCO SHIPPING International was awarded the “Commendation on Website Corporate Governance Information” for the first time in the presentation ceremony of the Best Corporate Governance Awards 2017 (the “Awards”) organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. This fully demonstrated that the Company’s continued pursuit of excellence in the information disclosure had been highly acclaimed by the professionals in the industry.

According to the Judges’ Report, COSCO SHIPPING International’s website produces a separate corporate governance section on its website, which includes the Company’s updated corporate governance policy, risk management and internal control, and shareholder communication. Meanwhile, the Company’s website devotes a section to explain its corporate social responsibility, covering its work on safety, environment, employees and community. To enhance interactivity with stakeholders, the Company has produced corporate videos and an interactive stock chart, as well as a tool box allowing users to share relevant pages to social media. The judges acclaimed that the website is informative and it is easy to find all the relevant information, including its historical interim and annual reports, financial highlights and dividend history.

The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants has launched the Awards since 2000. Its objectives are to encourage and promote good corporate governance disclosures and practices, and acknowledge the listed companies and public sector or not-for-profit organisations that exemplify the best corporate governance standards as reflected in their annual reports. This year, over 700 listed companies and public organisations participated in the competition. The judges underwent a preliminary review based on the disclosure from annual reports and websites, and then gave a compliance review on the shortlisted candidates and selected the outstanding companies. COSCO SHIPPING International was one of the 20 awarding companies.
