On 15th December 2017, the presentation ceremony of “The 8th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award”, co-organised by Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. COSCO SHIPPING International was awarded two Corporate Citizenship Logos in the Enterprise Category and Volunteer Category, in recognition of the Company’s unremitting efforts in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (“CSR”), returning to the community and promoting volunteer services this year.

During the year, COSCO SHIPPING International continued to integrate the corporate citizenship into its management strategic philosophy and operations, by adhering to its philosophy of “giving back to the community with what they get from the community”. The Company made further improvements and advancement, specifically in the areas of marketing services, safety management, product technology, energy saving and emission reduction, employee work ethics and returning to the community, so as to safeguard and balance the interests among its stakeholders including the shareholders, business partners, employees, customers and suppliers. All these achieved the general scale and effectiveness of social responsibility and gained the recognition and affirmation of the community.

As for volunteer services, COSCO SHIPPING International sends its volunteer team to pay visits to the elderly living alone every year. In addition, In addition, the Company collaborated with non-profit social charitable organisations to subsidise the low income families, so as to provide more opportunities for their children to participate into outing activities to adapt to the community. A total of 93 attendances participated in volunteer services, reaching 388 hours and benefiting 132 persons this year, which hit a historic record high.

“Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Award Scheme” aims at enhancing corporate citizenship and encouraging the enterprises to demonstrate and promote social responsibility, by integrating the concept of corporate citizenship into operating strategies and management measures, and delivering the concept among the employees and their families, customers and the public. Hence it facilitates the economic, social and environmental sustainable development. The scheme, at its eighth year, includes four different categories, i.e. enterprise category, SME category, social enterprises category and volunteer team category, to recognize those organisations with outstanding CSR achievements.
