On the morning of 3 February 2018, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) held a seminar entitled “Strategies and Opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative – Leveraging Hong Kong’s Advantages”, Meeting the Country’s Needs in conjunction with the Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Mr. Zhang Dejiang attended and delivered the keynote speech for the seminar. State Councillors  Mr Yang Jiechi and Mr Wang Yong; and the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr Chen Yuan as well as a host of officials, business leaders from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and representatives of the chamber of commerce attended the seminar and related activities.

This seminar is to implement  the spirit of the Nineteenth National Congress, support Hong Kong and Macao’s participation and assistance to the construction of  “The Belt and Road Initiative”, promote Hong Kong to involve into the overall development of the country, complement each other with the Mainland’s advantages and develop together, promote the state-owned enterprises and HKSAR  Government to cooperate with the industrial, commercial, and professional people. Capt. Xu Lirong, the Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING, attended the seminar.
