On 1st November 2015, COSCO International sent 63 employees and their family members, totaling 16 teams, number of which hit record high, to participate in the fund raising activity of “Sowers Action Challenging 12 Hours 2015” charity marathon organised by the non-profit charity organization, Sowers Action. This was the eighth consecutive year that COSCO International supported and sponsored the event. All participating teams completed the 12km race of run for education within the designated time, in which COSCO International’s employee, Mr. Chung Hon, won the champion in the Individual Men Senior Team, and 3 Open Teams received one Merit Silver medal and two Merit Bronze medals respectively. This fully demonstrated the corporate citizenship of team spirit and passion in charity of the Company’s staff.

“Sowers Action Challenging 12 Hours” charity marathon is an annual fund-raising charity walk held by Sowers Action, and it has been held for 16 years. The activity sets the categories of 42 km, 26km and 12km races. Participants are required to walk through several sections in Wilson Trail within limited time, during which they experience the hardship of the students in the mountainous regions in China, who pursue their studies by walking several hours every day to school. Meanwhile, they raise fund to help improve the education condition there.

COSCO International has always spared no effort in social charity activities, particularly the Company concurs with the Sowers Action’s belief of ‘Education is the key to eradicating poverty’. Therefore, COSCO International has been consistently sponsoring the charity event of Sowers Action’ Challenging 12 Hours and directly subsidizing the students in poverty in Mainland China to complete their studies. About 600 students from Sichuan, Yunnan and Gansu provinces had benefited. In future, COSCO International continues to cooperate with Sowers Action to make contribution in nurturing the future pillars of the country.
