2010年08月16日
On 14th August 2010, COSCO International jointly organised Chinese white dolphins watch activity with WWF-Hong Kong for the first time. Led by Mr. Wang Xiaodong, Managing Director of COSCO International, a total of 42 Hong Kong staff and their family members sailed to the waters near the Sha Chau and Lung Kwu Chau Marine Park in the western Hong Kong to learn more about a group of endangered and protected species in Hong Kong, i.e. Chinese White Dolphins.
The eco-tour was instructed and accompanied by a docent from WWF. They sailed to the waters near the Sha Chau and Lung Kwu Chau Marine Park in which Chinese white dolphins are living and watched them in a close distance. The weather was very good and some white dolphins of different ages swam to the water surface for searching food. All participants tried to capture the beautiful moment while the dolphins were swimming in the sea. During the visit, the docent introduced the white dolphins’ characteristics and the dangers they faced. In addition, participants learnt more eco-knowledge related to the sea and the work of WWF through some games. All participants were happy with the activity.
Mr. Wang Xiaodong, Managing Director of COSCO International, said after the activity, “Global warming is getting severe recently. As a corporate citizen, COSCO International always concerns the sustainable development between the environment and the enterprise. We joined in WWF-Hong Kong as its corporate member this year, not only to support its work on global conservation, but also to enhance the staff knowledge on nature conservation and low carbon life. We hope that they can apply what they learnt in their lives and work and make contribution to building a sustainable developing environment for the Company and their future generations.”
In future, COSCO International will continue to support environmental conservation and raise the staff awareness on energy reduction and low carbon as well as to promote low carbon office. Moreover, the Company will organise various programmes not only to educate the staff and their families the importance of caring the environment, but also to enhance its communication with the staff for better sense of belongings and cohesiveness, so as to fulfill good corporate citizenship.
